Ein einsames Floß in der Mitte des Meeres: Dem Verhungern nahe versucht Captain Red, seinen Diener Jean-Baptiste zu verspeisen, als sie von einer spanischen Galeone aufgegriffen werden. Sie geraten mitten in eine Meuterei und werden in Ketten gelegt. The first act, when the castaway Walter Matthau becomes captain again, is great. Then comes a decline that lasts until the closing credits. Boredom slowly creeps in, there is nothing to amuse, surprise or emotionally affect the viewer, and there’s no chance to relate to the main characters. In short, this film was a failure and Dino de Laurentiis, as producer, could notch up another flop.
